As many of you know, Jim grew up in a Christian household, but walked away from the faith during his High School and College years. Sports became his God and he became an All-American 3 times as a wrestler – Jim eventually hit rock bottom and turned back to the God he had known as a child and with a new view on life he went on to a career of coaching and teaching. Even though he loved God, he really struggled with God’s Church – it didn’t seem to be ‘winning’ in his view. He found himself wondering if he could bring some of the disciplines and methods that he utilized as a coach, into the realm of the church body. It turns out he could, and when he implemented those ideas into a new church plant in North Idaho, Real Life Ministries was born.
25 years later Real Life Ministries is a thriving church with 4 local campuses with a combined weekly attendance of almost 10,000, and 7 church plants across Idaho, Washington and Texas. In this podcast, our host Lance Wigton – one of the original founders of Real Life – and Jim Putman dig into some of the process’s and values they have implemented over the past 25 years that have brought Real Life to become one of the fastest growing churches in America.
