How do you measure the impact your Church’s discipleship culture having in the homes of your people?
Church leaders usually have ways to discover if the discipleship culture they’re trying to promote is actually happening throughout the church. But how can we know the impact of church discipleship in the home? For instance, how can we tell if the way we’re teaching and guiding people in our ministries and programs is actually making its way into their homes and transforming lives? Why does this matter? Because the discipleship cultures within our families and homes will end up having a transformational impact on the children who will become the next generation of church leaders.

-
Greater Attendance:
As discipleship takes root in the home, a noticeable transformation occurs in the lives of those involved. Families begin to prioritize their relationship with God. They naturally align their schedules to accommodate weekend services, youth group gatherings, and other relevant church events. Both parents and children become enthusiastic ambassadors for these activities, discussing them eagerly with others. They begin extending invitations to attend upcoming events or classes. The result? Overflowing attendance at weekend services and a lobby filled with conversations as people linger to connect and build relationships with others
-
Greater Participation:
As people grow spiritually, they are drawn to engage in church activities beyond regular worship services. As families embrace discipleship fully, there is an increased interest from members wanting to actively participate in various aspects of church life. Whether that be volunteering for ministries, joining small groups or attending classes and events.
- Greater Ministry Need:
In a place where real discipleship is taking place, and people are being cared for, newcomers discover a community of transparency among mature believers. They feel more comfortable sharing their struggles and concerns with the groups and friends they encounter within the church. This environment will prompt the church to seek ways to minister to these individuals, teaching and assisting them in their struggles. From offering finance classes to implementing recovery and restoration groups, the church body will earnestly address the unique needs of its people.
-
More Leaders:
As individuals experience transformation through Jesus, they will naturally desire to help others see Jesus in the same way. Regular people with humble hearts to serve will step up into leadership roles wherever there is a need. These leaders may not consider themselves qualified, but they are driven by a compelling desire to make a difference.
-
Generational Discipleship:
By fostering and nurturing a culture of disciple making, multiple generations of disciples will emerge. When mature disciples go on to disciple others, the impact becomes exponential over time. Families will witness parents, children, and grandchildren who have all been discipled within this culture. Moreover, as these discipled children grow up and move elsewhere, they too will continue making disciples in their new communities.
These measurable changes reflect not only individual growth, they also signify a vibrant community unified by shared values and beliefs. The impact of Church discipleship in the home is exponential.
